Garstang Running Club
members have been geographically well spread in recent weeks competing
in Liverpool, Staffordshire and Cumbria. The Mid Lancs Cross Country League
regularly and mysteriously holds one of its fixtures in Sefton Park
Liverpool. Four club members made the fifty mile journey with Mike Whyatt finishing 7th, Phil Cornall 84th, Geoff Lyons 100th a satisfying four seconds in front of his old rival Tony Pritchard who finished 103rd out of a field of only 176 – must have been the travelling!
Jane Holt was the clubs representative at the Chedderton 10K
near Leek in Staffordshire where, in a field of 372 she finished 226th
in 53.56 minutes. It was Staffordshire again for Jane when she
competed in the Dales Dash, an
off road 10K in Apedale Country Park near Newcastle Under Lyne.
Hilly and muddy were the key words, Jane finished 84th out of 162
in 57.52 minutes.
A report without Richard Roberts – never! He had to travel to Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria to get his weekly “fix” at the Ravenstonedale Red 10K where he finished 20th in a field of 114 in exactly forty minutes.
