Garstang Running Club’s own Half Marathon was won by Stephen Hargreaves of  Lytham in 1 hour 19.52 minutes some eight minutes slower than last years winner, but a win is a win!  The ladies race however was won in a new course record time by Amy Green of Keighley and Craven in 1.27.24.  Richard Roberts led the ten running club members home in 12th place in 1.25.12 followed by Dave Barraclough, 36th in 1.35.37, Helen Vinnicombe 50th in 1.40.52, Geoff Lund 52nd  and 2nd MV60 in 1.41.28 (some 9 minutes quicker than last year so retirement must suit him) Paul Conlon 65th in 1.43.49 (some 9 seconds slower than last year so obviously he should consider retirement) Pam Murphy 98th in 1.51.13, Phillpa Olive 108th in 1.55.24, Mike Hall 113th in 1.56.08, Denise Hughes 126th in 2.00.32, Omar Aboo 147th in 2.17.44 and the last of the 151 competitors finishing in 2.43.26.

 It would perhaps be difficult to find a much hillier course than the Garstang Half, however Julie Graham would perhaps suggest that the Langdale Half Marathon would win hands down.  In a field of 385 Julie finished 312th in 2 hours 16.56 minutes.  Phil Roberts however did the full Langdale Marathon finishing an excellent 7th in 3 hours 30.22 minutes over a minute quicker than the last runner took to complete the half marathon!  The last of 77 competitors completed the full course in  6 minutes short of six hours.

Dave Old went for a bit more variety at the Brinscall Triathlon near Chorley, a 500 yards swim, 12 mile bike and 3 mile run where he finished 14th with an excellent overall time of 1 hour 14 minutes.
