How many medals shall we order? This is often a difficult question for
race organizers, so with similar weather - bright and sunny - as the
previous year, who can answer the question why did 105 more runners
turn out for this years Caldervale 10 mile road race?
Last year Garstang Running Club was represented by six members and this
year the number was up to ten (almost a record for the club) with Richard Roberts finishing 16th overall and 3rd MV40 in 1 hour 2.19 minutes. Following Richard was Tony Pritchard 37th and 3rd MV50 in 1.05.48, Dave Heslop 75th in 1.12.11, Tim Warner 76th in 1.12.18, Phil Cornall 78th in 1.12.42, Richard Jones 87th in 1.14.37, Dave Barraclough 94th in 1.15.32, Geoff Lund (still talking when I saw him) 121st in 1.19.49, Pete Gelderd (the hill lover and still smiling when I saw him) 192nd in 1.29.53, Mike Hall
(poised to pass Pete when I saw him - so what happened?) 201st in
1.31.36 with the 237th and final competitor completing the extremely
hilly course in 2hours and 5 minutes.
