Dave Neilands reports . . . .

For London Marathon entrants the accepted wisdom is that a 20 mile road race about a month before the "big day" is what is required to run up to one's best form around the streets of London.  And so it was that Frank Miller of Garstang Running Club together with 363 other runners slogged round the streets of Morecambe (doesn't have the same "ring" as the streets of London) in the Trimpell 20.  Keeping to his prearranged plan to run within but close to 2 hours 50 minutes Frank finished the race in 115th place in 2 hours 46 minutes - obviously he could have run faster but he had to keep to his plan!!

Slightly more picturesque locations were chosen by Richard Roberts for the
Ryder Multi Terrain 5k, where he finished 8th and 1st MV40 in 18.42, and Pete Gelderd who chose the Grizedale Trail 10 in the Lake District.   More than a little undulating but offering some spectacular views, if the red mist clears once you are up there, Pete finished 115th in a field of 187 in 1 hour 28.43 minutes - where all but one of the 72 runners behind him were younger than him!!
