Dave Neilands reports . . . .

The last round of the Mid Lancs Cross Country League took place at Hyndburn and ideally the competitors needed two sets of shoes to complete the course without mishap. Where the sun had got through the course was sticky mud but the shaded areas were icy and rock hard but Garstang Running Club's Richard Roberts hardly seemed to mind, finishing in 63rd place. He was followed by Tony Pritchard in 75th place, Geoff Lyons 82nd, Dave Barraclough 95th, Richard Jones 109th and Pete Gelderd 131st.

End of season team results sees Garstang in 3rd place in the Senior Men's Division 3, 2nd in the Vet 40 division and 3rd in the Vet 50 division.

Richard Roberts represented the club the following day at the St Annes 10 mile road race, an entirely flat race up and down the promenade but with a stiff wind to keep things interesting! Richard finished in 27th place in 61.06 minutes, followed by Frank Miller 217th in 79.06 and Denise Hughes 314th in 93.24 with the 361st and final runner completing the course in 2 hours and five minutes.
