Dave
Neilands reports . . . .
The first major half marathon of the year in the north west - the Great North West
- was held at Blackpool in very nippy conditions. Despite the cold 1110
runners completed the race, with Garstang Running Club being led home
by Richard Roberts in an excellent 29th place in an impressive time of 1 hour 21 minutes. Richard was followed by Tim Warner, 143rd in 1 hour 30 and Julie Graham
702nd in 1 hour 54 minutes with the last two competitors completing the
course in 3 hours and 14 minutes - if they were not frozen then the
marshals at the finish certainly would have been!!
The Standish Hall 10k Trail race attracted 211 competitors - quality not quantity said Pete Gelderd
who finished 150th in 55.06 minutes some twenty minutes in front of the
last competitor - all the none training must be paying off!!
